Two men who pleaded guilty to lottery scamming in the St Catherine Circuit Court last year have been fined $100,000 each or face 18 months in prison.
Adwelle Wilson and Damain Duffus, both from St John’s Road in Spanish Town in St Catherine, were sentenced on Friday by Justice Bertram Morrison.
During the sentencing, Defence Attorney Shelldon Campbell requested that his clients be given time to pay the fines. Justice Morrison indicated he was inclined to grant the request.
Facts are that on April 30,2020, police conducted an operation along St John’s Road.
During the raid the accused were held at a home and several pieces of identity information of persons residing overseas were found in their possession.
The men were arrested and subsequently charged under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) ( Special Provisions) Act.
They made several court appearances and plead guilty to possession of identity information in September last year.
