
Police have arrested 84 people in Tobago as part of ongoing operations under the state of emergency (SoE), now in effect for 51 days since its declaration on December 30, 2024.
Among the 84 arrested, is high-ranking Tobago gang member said to be a key figure in the Tobago faction of the Rasta City or 7 Gang, accused of trafficking narcotics and acquiring high-powered firearms to carry out violent crimes, including murder.
Police has carried out 190 operations, targeting 235 priority offenders and conducting 258 searches.
Officers also executed 71 traffic operations, uncovering 272 traffic offences.
During the crackdown, police recovered four pistols, adding to efforts to curb gun-related crime on the island.
After of February 18 Tobago has recorded two murders for the year. By the first week in February both murders have been solved and suspects, which includes two minors, had been charged. For the same period the island had four murders.
