Paramaribo – The Trafficking department in Persons (TIP) of the Suriname Police Corps, in collaboration with the Aliens Service and the Paramaribo Assistance Team (RBTP), Cuban Couple OR (43) and GY (34) has arrested for human trafficking and human smuggling. This happened last week at an address in Paramaribo Noord. After receiving anonymous information in November of last year on one of the WhatsApp numbers of TIP, that was worked out, after which a raid was made at the specified address. There, the authorities found the Cuban couple and the eight women of Cuban descent.
After having checked the documents of the Cubans, one of them turned out to be illegal in the country and that they have not had permission to spend longer in Suriname. When inquiring to the passports of the Cuban women, they told the police that the Cuban couple had taken their passports because they were imposed a high debt in US dollars.
Sex against their will to pay off the debt
In addition, they had to do sex against their will with men who were attracted by the couple to be able to pay off their debt. The Cuban couple was beaten in the buoys and to tip for the lead. The couple has been insured and the eight Cuban women are safely housed somewhere.
