In a press conference, the National Secretary of COPEI, Juan Carlos Alvarado, expressed concern about the lack of clarity in the electoral campaign through the media. Only eight days after the closure of the campaign, he asked the National Electoral Council to implement an effective communicational strategy to motivate electoral participation.
In addition, Alvarado highlighted the remarkable participation of the Venezuelan people in the electoral drill held last Saturday at 1,177 voting centers throughout the country.
ESEQUIBA Guayana Defense
In relation to the elections in the territory of the Esequiba Guayana, Copei stressed the historical importance of this electoral process and denounced the existence of groups that try to hinder it. “The waters and territories of the Esequiba Guayana, which belong to Venezuelans, are at risk. Those who question the electoral process are accomplices; you cannot be stunning in the defense of this region,” said Alvarado.
WARNING ABOUT THE EXTREMIST OPPOSITION
Finally, Juan Carlos Alvarado warned about the possibility that the extremist opposition tries to denounce some type of fraud on 25m. He indicated that his only objective is to infiltrate the electoral process and then sabotage the dialogue efforts promoted by the opposition democratic alliance. “We cannot allow blackmail; they are looking to promote abstention. What we need is to encourage vote on May 25,” he concluded.
