The Division of Youth in the Ministry of Youth and Sports has extended the deadline to receive proposals from youth-led groups and organisations to access a $5,000 Community Support Grant.
The new deadline is 27 February 2025.
This is in an effort to give more groups the opportunity to present their projects for consideration for the grant programme which aims to support projects that address the needs of young people, promoting their personal and professional growth and development.
The Division of Youth encourages youth led groups and organisations that have not submitted their project proposals as yet to take advantage of the extended time.
Proposals to be accepted must align with the 5 pillars set out by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for funding.
They are as follows;
1. Community Beautification and Accessibility
Initiatives that improve the physical landscape of the community, such as enhancing public spaces, increasing accessibility for all residents, and maintaining a clean, aesthetically pleasing environment.
2. Human Development and Capacity Building
Projects that focus on developing the skills, talents, and potential of community members. This includes programmes aimed at education, job training, youth empowerment, leadership development, and initiatives that provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.
3. Health and Wellness Promotion
Projects that prioritise the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. This could include health education campaigns, fitness programmes, mental health support services, nutrition initiatives, and other wellness-related activities. The aim is to improve the overall health outcomes within the community, promoting a healthier and more active population.
4. Cultural Preservation and Celebration
Projects that seek to promote and preserve the unique traditions, cultural heritage and traditions of the community. This includes initiatives that support local arts, festivals, historical preservation, and cultural education.
5. Technological Integration and Innovation
Initiatives that leverage technology to advance community development. This can include projects that improve digital literacy, provide access to technology, or integrate technological solutions to enhance education, business, and communication. The goal is to build more connected and innovative communities that are equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving world.
*Approved organisations must attend a mandatory project implementation training before the commencement of the project.
NB: The grant is available to ONLY community-based, youth-led organisations.
