The murder of a Grand Anse man on Monday by another has been described by underworld figures as an internal feuding among members of the once feared Bloods Group in the area.
The deceased has been described by his village name “Wanga” and the suspected killer is “Kaos”.
On Thursday, 41-year old Bartender Jomichael Levine, of Grand Anse, St. George appeared in court in connection with Grenada’s second homicide of the year.
He was charged for the fatal stabbing of 44-year-old Kishon Charles, also known as “Keemani Mitchell”, a carpenter from Golf Course, St. George.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Monday in an area known as Silver Lane, Grand Anse.
Slapped with a Non-capital murder charge, Levine appeared before Magistrate Tahira Gellineau at the St. George’s No. 2 Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to the Richmond Hill Prison.
He was represented by attorney Peter David, who indicated his intention to apply for bail at a later date.
The Police Prosecution has agreed to provide full disclosure to the defense, and the case has been adjourned until March 20.
A major underworld source told THE NEW TODAY that “Wanga” is considered “a bully” by those who know him and has had a run-in with the murder suspect over the years.
“He and the boy had a feud before and the boy ended up throwing acid on him.”
According to the insider, the issue between the two reached as far as the court but he could not confirm reports that “Kaos” was able to obtain a Court Order restraining “Wanga” from coming close to him and even visiting his small business place.
There are reports that “Wanga” had spent some time overseas before returning to Grenada and ended up with a job on a government project.
The underworld figure pointed out that the two often kept going after each other all last year but he did not know what actually triggered Monday’s event in which “Wanga” was fatally stabbed.
“If you ask most of them boys and them he (the deceased) used to get on like a bully,” he said.
He claimed that most of the folks in the underworld are more in sympathy with “Kaos” who allegedly committed the crime than the deceased.
About 10 hours after “Wanga” was killed, a small shop operated by “Kaos” near a prestigious hotel in the south of the island was gutted by fire in what many observers believe was done in retaliation for the killing.
While the adjacent dwelling house was not affected, the shop and its attached dining area were burned to the ground.
Charles’ death comes approximately three (3) weeks after Grenada’s first recorded homicide of 2025, the shooting death of 35-year-old Floyd Francois, also known as “Skippy,” a shopkeeper from Mt. Rich, St. Patrick on February 5.
Francois was serving a four-year suspended sentence for firearm and drug-related offenses at the time of his murder.
Police have yet to make a breakthrough in the case, which remains under active investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
