

Despite overcast skies and an occasional downpour, a number of teamsters and supporting spectators turned out on the James Ronald Webster Park to participate in the annual Fun Day activities on Thursday, May 1st, known as May Day or Labour Day – a local public holiday in Anguilla as well as several other countries.
Several teams represented their companies, departments and places of employment as they vied to be the champion of Fun Day 2025. Participating teams included ANGLEC, the Government of Anguilla, the Royal Anguilla Police Force, the Department of Health, Cap Juluca Belmond Resort and Four Seasons Resort.
On hand to address the teams and give them encouragement were the Hon. Premier, Mrs. Cora Richardson-Hodge, as well as the President of the Anguilla Amateur Athletic Association, Mr. Karim Hodge. Additionally, as a casual spectator, H.E. Governor Crouch was also present to enjoy the fun-filled activities that marked a symbolic highlight of the harmony that ought to exist between the employer and the employee.
Amidst the hype of noisy chatter and cheerful laughter, competitive acts played out on the wet field included 400 meter races in male and female categories; four-legged race; potato race; spelling race; egg ‘n spoon race; thread di needle race; suck it up; noodle toss; heavy ball throw; wiggle ball throw; male and female bottle race; and the hilarious tug-of-war.At the end of play, Cap Juluca Belmond Resort emerged the Champion with 152 points; in second was Four Seasons Resort with 139 points; the Government of Anguilla came in third with 123 points; the Royal Anguilla Police Force came in fourth with 89 points; the Department of Health made it in at fifth with a total of 86 points, while ANGLEC trailed sixth with 68 points.
Each team was serviced by fellow-workers stationed at their respective tents under which delicious meals were provided. All in attendance enjoyed fine food and fun and were captured by the thrills and excitement of the grand annual Fun Day 2025 event.
