
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF), the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) recorded contrasting wins yesterday in the Dave’s West Indian Imports 1st Division 50-Over Championship.
Over at the GCC ground, GDF defeated the hosts by 25 runs. Batting first, the army unit posted a competitive total of 233 after being dismissed in 48.4 overs. Middle-order batsman Garfield Benjamin top scored for the visitors with 58 runs from 78 balls, while Leon Andrews supported with 51 runs from 57 deliveries.
Contributing 42 runs was Kwesi Mickle, while Joshua Jones recorded 32 runs in an aggressive lower-order cameo. GCC’s bowling attack had its moments of brilliance, with Akshaya Persaud leading the charge, finishing with figures of 3-32 from his nine overs. Yeudistir Persaud also made an impact, picking up 3-41 in 9.4 overs. Carlos La Rose (2-64) and Krsna Singh (2-27) provided valuable support.
