
On Thursday, 6 February, the Government of Grenada hosted its inaugural Fireside Chat as part of the 51st Anniversary of Independence celebrations.
The event featured Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote, one of Africa’s most successful entrepreneurs, in conversation with Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell, themed “Entrepreneurship and Leadership: Cultivating a Growth Mindset for Success.”
The event, which took place at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, attracted over 400 young entrepreneurs from various fields, owners of small and medium enterprises, and students from across the tri-island state.
Focused on entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation, the discussion offered valuable insights for Grenada’s economic development. Dangote shared with the audience his rewarding journey and offered advice to aspiring young entrepreneurs.

Other highlights of the Fireside Chat Event
- Donation of cricket gear to the JOY Cricket School in Laura, St David
Aliko Dangote, through his foundation, donated cricket kits to students at the JOY Cricket School in Laura, St. David. He also announced plans to provide an additional 1,000 kits to young cricketers from other grassroots cricket clubs to help revitalise the sport across Grenada.
- Signing of Agreement for hosting of AFRICaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2025
Professor Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, added to the evening’s discourse, sharing opportunities for Grenadian students to visit the Dangote Facility
During the Press Conference which followed the Fireside Chat, he announced that Grenada is poised to host the Afri-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum from 9–10 July 2025.
President Oramah, in his remarks, highlighted that “the partnerships formed here will lay the foundation for transformative growth”
