Children aged 8 to 10 in gangs
UNICEF Representative in Haiti, Geetanjali Narayan, said, “Currently, we estimate that nearly half of the members of armed groups are children, some as young as eight years old […] children aged 8 to 10 are used as messengers or informants, while younger girls are tasked with domestic chores […] As they grow older, children play an increasingly active role in participating in acts of violence […]”
Cuba : Bilateral cooperation in health
Bertrand Sinal, the Minister of Public Health, received a visit this week from Cuban Ambassador Carlos Moya Ramos. Several topics were discussed, including bilateral cooperation in health and the effectiveness of Cuban teams deployed on the ground. The issue of postgraduate training for doctors was also discussed, particularly in specialties that are highly sought after in Haiti.

Port-au-Prince : 3 days “One for the other”
On March 2-3-4, 2025, the Port-au-Prince City Hall invites the entire population of Port-au-Prince to the 3-day “One for the other” gathering
– March 2nd : Blood drive day (Marriott hotel);
– March 2nd-3rd-4th : Clean-up day;
– March 4th : Symposium on the future of the Port-au-Prince carnival (Marriott hotel).
DR : Haitian Embassy closed
The Haitian Embassy in the Dominican Republic will be closed for the carnival festivities: Monday, March 3rd, 2025 from noon and Tuesday, March 4th and Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Activities will resume at the usual time, Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
Presidential Advisor Emmanuel Vertilaire outraged
The Transitional Presidential Advisor Emmanuel Vertilaire (Party “Pitit Desalin”), responsible for the justice and public security project within the Transitional Council, informs that he did not take part in the Council of Ministers on Friday, February 28. This decision reflects his indignation at the refusal of his colleagues of the Transitional Council to address, with responsibility and urgency, the real problems of the population. “The time is neither for indifference nor for political quarrels, but for concerted action to alleviate the distress of the Haitian people.”
