The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, fully backed on Sunday’s War Objectives in the Gaza Strip, and said that Hamas “must be eradicated”, which makes even more question the future of the unstable high to the fire.
Rubio met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem at the beginning of a regional tour, in which he will probably face the rejection of the Arab leaders for the proposal of President Donald Trump to move to the Palestinian population out of the Gaza Strip and rebuild it on American property.
Netanyahu welcomed the plan with satisfaction and pointed out that he and Trump have a “common strategy” for the future of the Palestinian enclave. Echoing Trump, he said that “the doors of hell would open” if Hamas does not release the remaining hostages kidnapped in their attack on October 7, 2023, which triggered the conflict.
Your comments occur just two weeks before the first phase of cessation to fire ends. The second phase, in which Hamas will release dozens of hostages in exchange for more Palestinian prisoners, a lasting truce and the withdrawal of Israeli forces, is still about to be negotiated.
Rubio: Hamas “must be eliminated”
Rubio said Hamas “cannot continue as a military or government force.”
“As long as it remains a force that can govern or as a force that can administer or as a force that can threaten through the use of violence, peace becomes impossible,” said Rubio. “It must be eliminated.”
These statements could complicate efforts to continue conversations with the Palestinian group, which despite suffering strong losses in the conflict, remains intact and in Gaza control.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said he carried out an air attack this Sunday against people who approached their forces in southern Gaza. The Interior Ministry of the Enclave, led by Hamas, said that three Palestinian policemen died while ensuring the entry of help trucks near Rafah, on the border with Egypt.
