Authorities have responded to the demolition of illegal homes in La Horquetta on Thursday.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC), in a media release, stated that the Commissioner of State Lands, with support from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, took decisive action to address illegal squatting at Ramjattan Trace, off Tumpuna Road in Arima.
The Corporation reported that in October 2024, 20 illegal structures were demolished, and notices were served to the occupants of 12 additional structures, requesting that they vacate the property by January 2025.
The HDC notes that recent satellite imagery confirmed that many of these structures were either newly built or still under construction.
Authorities are also investigating fraudulent activities related to the unlawful sale of State lands.
