A joint security exercise at the Port of Spain Prison on Wednesday led to the discovery of a stash of illegal items.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that officers seized 51 cellphones, 30 chargers, 53 lighters, 207 grammes of marijuana, along with improvised weapons, knives, digital scales, and cigarettes.
The operation follows a similar raid at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca last week, where four inmates were charged. Further charges are expected as authorities continue their crackdown on contraband behind prison walls.
