Three-time Soca Monarch Neil Iwer George has pulled out of The Ultimate Soca Champion 2025 competition.
The self proclaimed Water Lord did not give a specific reason for his decision.
“The organisers respect Mr George’s decision to step away from the competition and thank him for his participation. With his departure, ‘Someone Else’ (Littleboy ft. Quan & Trilla-G), performed by Trilla-G from Dominica, has accepted the opportunity to reclaim their position in the competition, setting the stage for an electrifying semi-final round,” a release from the competition stated.
Earlier this week Trilla-G announced he would be withdrawing from the competition.
George’s withdrawal follows the recent announcement that Trinidad Killa (Kern Joseph) has also withdrawn from the competition.
Trinidad Killa had hoped to perform virtually during the semi-finals of The Ultimate Soca Champion (USC) competition, but this request was rejected by the event organizers.
Director Jerome ‘Rome’ Precilla explained that Joseph’s proposal violated the competition’s rules, which require all contestants to be physically present for both the semi-finals and finals.
As a result, second reserve Melick Baptiste will take Joseph’s place in the semi-finals at the Naparima Bowl Amphitheatre, San Fernando, on Sunday.
