The opposition leader María Corina Machado confirmed Monday that He talked to Richard Grenelll, special envoy from the president of the United States, Donald Trump, During his visit to Venezuela. He explained that the presence of this official in the country had clear objectives to manage the release of American hostages, arrested after July 28, and coordinate the deportation process of people linked to criminal activities.
“I have been aware of this visit before I took place and I also talked to the special envoy of the president of the United States during his visit and informed me of the result of it,” Machado said at a virtual press conference.

A clear message from Washington
Machado stressed that Trump’s administration maintains A firm position against Nicolás Maduro’s regime and denied any type of negotiation that implies recognition of his mandate.
“Donald Trump has been very clear that there will be no negotiation here. Maduro can say what he wants for his internal groups that are killing each other, but it is what it is, ”he said.
He also insisted that Venezuela represents a threat to hemispheric security and that of the United States, so he assured that the international strategy is still underway to weaken the pillars that support Chavism.
“We are facing a criminal system, You have to build forces and you have to have more strength than them. Surround them, weaken, fracture them and take away their support pillars, ”he said.
“It’s not just mature, it’s a system”
The opposition leader stressed that the fight does not focus solely on the figure of Maduro, but on the dismantling of the entire power structure of Chavism.
“Here you have to talk very clearly: it is not just mature, it is a system what we are changing. And that this is clear to everyone: to the regime, to international allies, those who are guabineando, with doubts or falter, but, above all, Venezuelans: We will achieve this ”, assured.
He also emphasized the need to maintain the determination at this stage of the process and called on citizens not to distract themselves with rumors or strategies of the ruling party. “Strength and conviction are needed to continue. You have to stop listening to scammers and speakers ”, insisted.
The fourth phase: the eviction of Chavismo
According to Machado, the opposition has made advances on several fronts, but acknowledged that Chavismo clings to power and still retains control tools.
“The fourth phase comes, which is the eviction of tyranny. We defeat them in all the planes that we have said, but they are clinging to power, that is a reality. And they have weapons, that is another reality. So how will we face this fourth stage? Obviously, the strategy remains valid, but adapts to the time we face, ”he explained.
For the leader, the regime is sustained in two fundamental pillars: repressive apparatus and financing from illicit activities.
“This is a hooded regime, they do everything with the covered faces. They know they have a redoubt, with the ability to do much badly, very dangerous. The other thing that they have left is the silver of criminal businesses, black markets, drug trafficking, minerals, oil, the entire resource gap that enters for corruption and repression. And we have not been able to break that yet ”, admitted.
However, he assured that strategies with international allies have been established to cut those sources of financing and weaken the repressive structure.
“We have built a package of shares with international allies because for that international allies are indispensable. To close the criminal silver and to break the repressive structure. We are working at this at this time, ”he said.
International strategy and coordination with Donald Trump
Reiterated that the fight for Maduro’s departure is led by Venezuelans, But it requires international support.
“From before the arrival of President Trump to power we established contacts with people who have direct responsibilities on the issue of Venezuela and from the day one we had meetings, in person, in the city of Washington with our teams, Edmundo González and I, with Secretary of State Frame Rubio. From there to here the communication is continuous, ”he revealed.
He assured that the Trump team is clear about Maduro’s role in transnational crime.
“Does anyone believe that Donald Trump doesn’t know that Nicolás Maduro is the leader of Aragua’s train? Do you think they were going to do blur and new account and thus erase their links with Iran, with Hezbollah, the passports they have given them to infiltrate terrorists, their links with the drug trafficking posters, their support to the ELN? Do you really think they can erase crimes against humanity and the results of July 28? ”He asked.
