Once again, the sweet sounds of steel are filling the atmosphere, this time in the Northern Region as Pan Trinbago kicked off their Medium Conventional Band Preliminary Round on Tuesday with four bands, including two-time Medium Band champions, Courts Sound Specialist of Laventille.
The action started in the Northern Region with Pan-Demonium Steel Orchestra’s performance of the 1991 hit song ‘Golo’ by Second Imij. The Arranger of the band is Keisha Codrington.
Pan-Demonium Steel Orchestra has failed to qualify for the Semi-Final round since 2017, when they were under the stewardship of Arranger Akua Leith. They were, however, one of the top bands in Trinidad and Tobago, placing 2nd overall under arranger Clive Bradley in 1988.
The judges then moved on to two-time Panorama Medium Band Champions Courts Sound Specialists of Laventille, where they performed a Seion Gomez arrangement of Preacher’s ‘Jump and Wave.’ Mr. Gomez last won Panorama in 2013 with Tobago Medium Band Buccooneers and is attempting to repeat those results in 2025.
The evening then concluded with the final two bands of the night, Valley Harps, with ‘No No We Eh Going Home’ arranged by Robert Tobitt, followed by Power Stars with an Aaron Clarke arrangement of ‘Energy Killers.’
The judges now move on to the Eastern Region, where seven bands will be judged, beginning in Sangre Grande at the Cordettes Steel Orchestra and concluding at Potential Symphony’s Panyard in Barataria.
