
A mother and son, wanted for murder, evaded police during a search yesterday, which resulted in an officer shooting a dog in self-defense.
According to police reports, around 5 pm officers were notified of two murder suspects located in the Piarco district.
A team of officers was dispatched to search for the 34-year-old mother and her 16-year-old son, who are both wanted in connection with the murder of a man from Frederick Settlement, Caroni.
When the police arrived at the location around 6.50 pm, one of the officers was attacked by three dogs.
The officer fired a shot in the direction of the dogs, causing them to flee.
Upon checking, the dog’s owner discovered that one of the dogs had a wound on its front right leg, though the injury was not life-threatening.
The the two suspects were not found.
