To do this possible, we must assume politics as one of the most precious forms of charity. Francisco affirms that the best policy, far from populisms, is what guarantees all a decent and well -paid job because the best help for a poor is not to give money, which is a temporary remedy, but to allow him to live a decent life for means of your work. The true strategy to fight poverty aims to promote the poor jointly. The Pope advocates a policy that says no to corruption, to inefficiency, to the misuse of power, to lack of respect for laws. A policy focused on human dignity. Likewise, it considers that it is also the task of politics to find a solution to everything that attains against fundamental human rights, such as social exclusion; traffic of organs, weapons and drugs; sexual exploitation; terrorism and organized crime. And it makes an urgent call to eliminate hunger, which, in his words, is “criminal” because food is “an inalienable right.”
Unfortunately, there are less and less people who take the Pope’s words seriously. Against those who believe that the Church must return to the sacristies and limit itself to its level of promoting cult and religious practices, Francisco makes it clear that the Church cannot give up the political dimension of existence, since attention to the common good And the concern for integral human development concerns humanity and everything that is human concerns the Church, according to the principles of the Gospel.
Following Jesus is to accompany him in his mission of establishing here the kingdom, that is, a fair and fraternal society, which privileges above all the most vulnerable and excluded, not because they are better, but because they are more needy and therefore they have a place privileged in the maternal heart of God. The option for the poor must translate into commitment to eradicate poverty and all forms of exclusion and domination. A faith without works, without commitment to work for justice, coexistence and peace, is a dead faith.
God of the poor,
Help us rescue
To the abandoned and forgotten of this land
that are worth in your eyes (…).
Touches hearts
Of those looking only
At the expense of the poor and the earth (…)
Thank you because you are with us every day.
Alient us, please, in our fight
For justice, love and peace.
