A federal judge in Washington temporarily blocked the executive order of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to transfer transions to exclusive prisons for men and suspend access to medical treatments related to gender transition, collect media premises.
The resolution, issued on Tuesday night, responds to a demand for three transsexual dams that accuse the president of endangering their lives with their decree, by eliminating their access to medical care. In addition, they alleged that if they are transferred to a prison for men, they would run a high risk of harassment, abuse and sexual assault, as well as would be exposed to psychological damage.
According to the magistrate, the plaintiffs have “clearly demonstrated that irreparable damage would occur” if medical care is denied and their request for restriction is denied.
For their part, the Trump administration officials “have not even argued that the plaintiffs in this particular cause represent a threat to the inmates housed with them,” said the judge, highlighting that there are only about 16 transsexual women held in female penitentiaries in The whole country.
The dams were confined in units for women for months and even years until last January, when they were removed from the general prison population and located in segregated units with other trans women while waiting for their transfer to facilities for men.
