The agency indicated to the local press that the measure governs from this Saturday to Monday, February 10 in coordination with migration as part of a series of immediate government security actions in the country.
On February 3, the Ecuadorian President and candidate for re -election, Daniel Noboa, ordered security forces to close borders with neighboring countries in the face of “attempts to destabilize armed groups.”
Noboa also had absolute control at the North, South and East Borders of the country; intensive patrols in ports and rivers; Rigorous air surveillance in airports and private tracks.
The Armed Forces began to implement these actions during this week, in compliance with the provision of the president, who a year ago declared an “internal armed conflict” in Ecuador against 22 organized crime bands linked to drug trafficking.
The Noboa government described these bands as “terrorists”, which is attributed to the escalation of violence that hits the country with murders, extortion, kidnappings and other crimes.
The Armed Forces reported, in their social networks, that “they execute simultaneous military operations throughout the national territory to guarantee the security and sovereignty of the country.”
They indicated that at the moment there is absolute control at the borders and that patrols in sea ports, commercial, artisanal, fisheries and river spaces intensified.
In addition, the surveillance of airspace with strict monitoring in airports and private tracks was reinforced.
More than 13.7 million Ecuadorians are called to the polls to elect President and Vice President, 151 parliamentarians who will integrate the National Assembly (Legislative) and five representatives for the Andean Parliament, who will exercise their positions for a period of four years.
Ecuador has been found since Friday in a period of electoral silence to meditate on the vote for the general elections, while about 100,000 police officers and the Armed Forces implemented an operation to guarantee order and security during the day.
