TRAVEL: by Eric Mackenzie Lamb
A few years ago, I drove to Gratz, Austria, to visit a long time friend, Bernard Humboldt. We both had the same career, that of a model and actor in commercials. In fact, we had both become famous in the industry.
But we weren’t the only ones. Graz was also home to many people who were celebrities. Just to name a few: Arnold Schwarzenegger, the movie star who would become Governor of California; Hedy Lammar, the actress; Gustav Klimt, the artist; Sigmund Freud.
Franz Ferdinand, a member of the Austrian Royalty whose assassination by Bosnians led to World War I; and, last but not least, the legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Graz is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and has over a million visitors each year. The old part of the town is filled with shops selling colorful local handicrafts and there are also many restaurants serving unique local dishes.
Definitely a memorable experience.
