
The mystery of who sent several messages in a bottle that was found by an American musician – years later – drifting in the ocean was finally resolved.
In a new video posted by Clint Buffington In his Instagram account, the man revealed that some mothers of the class Zykion They contacted him and shared images of his children working the school project. He did not mention which institution they belonged to, but previously mentioned to the Cristo Rey Academy.
Buffington, who was excited about the discovery, coordinated with the mothers to talk to the students Carolina and Roselyn, the only two who signed their messages inside the bottle, recovered by the artist on a remote island to the south of the Bahamas, in 2023.
“I was starting to lose faith because all the clues I got, all the schools I contacted, all the Zykyes classes that they contacted, they all said that ‘no, those are not us'”the musician confessed.
Buffington awarded social networks the success of finding young people who gave life to the project.
“Finally, I reached the right people and I am happy to inform that I have connected with this class. At the moment I have only contacted Carolina and Roselyn that were the two names that are in the cards. We have sent some messages, but we have not had the opportunity to speak yet”said the artist.
Carolina and Roselyn also provided images of the day they worked the project.
“Everyone is very happy, probably I was beginning to lose hope and it is incredible that I found them.”said Buffington, who added that there are more details of the story that will be sharing in a BBC Radio documentary during the summer.
How was the finding of the bottle?
For years, the musician has collected epistles launched into the sea by people from different countries. A few weeks ago, he published on his social networks that he had found a bottle with messages that seemed to aim for students Ponceños.
Some of the clues that the musician followed were the mention of the name Zyky and the people of origin, which is Ponce. Then, he also mentioned the Cristo Rey Academy.
However, when trying to communicate with the institution, no details about the students for security reasons were provided. Given that scenario, the musician chose to ask for help from social networks.
On its website, Buffington indicates that he has found about 120 bottles with messages, something that began to document in 2011. He also regulates other messages found by relatives and relatives.
After finding them, the musician says he tries to find the authors or his relatives. In one of the cases, he gave an adult major a letter that his father had launched in a bottle of 35 to 50 years before.
“The messages in bottles show that people of different origins can get along, if they are given the opportunity,” says Buffington on their page.
