
Paramaribo – President ChandrikaPersad Santokhi, together with the First Lady Mellisa Santokhi-Seenachherry, ministers and the chairman of the decoration committee, Jack Uden, honored women with a honorary medal and certificate of appreciation on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated annually on 8 March. The meeting was held on Saturday in the congress hall.
In the context of fifty years of political independence of Suriname, special attention is paid to gender equality and the role of women in society. The Advisory Committee and the Decoration Committee have carefully assessed all lectures and contributed their advice to the granting of the honorary medals, as recognition for the valuable work and the lasting impact of these women.
