
The Guyana Chess Federation hosted the highly anticipated U-1400 Chess Tournament on February 24 at the School of the Nations facility on New Market Street, with Aravinda Singh emerging victorious in the fiercely contested event.
The event attracted thirty-six eager and ambitious unrated chess players, offering them a platform to showcase their strategic prowess and determination.
The competition was fierce, with each round bringing intense battles as participants vied for the top five positions. However, local veteran Aravinda Singh prevailed as he demonstrated his experience and skill to secure first place with an impressive score of 6.5 points. Hot on his heels was newcomer Matthew Persaud, who finished in second place with 6 points, his only loss coming at the hands of the champion.
