A ‘hit and run’ accident on Line Path Public Road, Skeldon, Berbice, on Sunday evening has claimed the life of a 9-month-old baby girl, Eli Surujnarine.
The accident involved a white Toyota Fielder wagon and an electric cycle. A preliminary investigation revealed That Eli’s father, Tushan Surujnarine, was riding the electric cycle at the time, with Eli and her mother, Kavita Bedsan, as pillion riders. The Toyota car was driven by Avinesh Naidoo, of Corriverton Berbice.
According to reports, the electric cycle was proceeding north on Line Path Road when the car struck the rear of his cycle causing the trio to fall on the roadway.
