Dajabón.- Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos A. Fernández Onofre conducted a supervisory tour in Pedernales, Jimaní, Elías Piña, and Dajabón to assess the operational readiness of border troops and monitor the progress of the perimeter fence construction. He emphasized that the inspection ensures national security and the smooth operation of border markets while maintaining public safety.
Regarding the border fence, Fernández Onofre confirmed that construction in Pedernales is complete, while Dajabón’s section is 99% finished, though rain has delayed progress in Jimaní. The first phase, covering nearly 50 kilometers, is set to be inaugurated in the coming months. Additionally, the second phase—an 11-kilometer extension from Dajabón to Capotillo—is scheduled to begin in April.
