The vice president for the communes and social movements of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Jorge Arreaza, highlighted this Sunday the importance of the national popular consultation as a tool for the people to assume their role of government in the framework of the revolution.
From the Community Council Canteras de Miranda, in the Sucre municipality, he emphasized that the community members have demonstrated an exemplary commitment in this process, leading initiatives in health, education and social care based on their own needs and planning.
“The people increasingly assume with more rigor that they are here to be a government, to govern,” he said.
Arreaza stressed that President Nicolás Maduro has opted for the communal project, opening the doors to communal consultations, where the government is guided by the decisions of the people. In his words, this model reinforces the idea that the people not only participate, but actively governs.
