A fresh appeal for information on a mass shooting at a football match that happened just over a year ago was made on Monday.
Police said they wanted to talk to anyone who could help kickstart the stalled investigation into the incident, which left seven people injured.
Acting Detective Superintendent Dave Morrison said, “Despite exhaustive investigative efforts, no new witnesses have come forward, and no further evidence has been provided to assist in advancing this case.
“One year later, no new suspects have been arrested, and no charges have been laid.”
But he added the investigation into the shooting at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay was still open and remained a priority.
Morrison said, “We are committed to seeking justice, and we urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.”
The incident happened at a football match on 25 Feb. last year and a total of seven men were injured at the game, which was watched by a large crowd, including children.
Reward money totalling $250,000 — $200,000 from the government and $50,000 from Crime Stoppers — was later put up for information leading to the arrest and charging of anyone connected with the incident.
Commissioner of Police Kurt Walton said it was “a miracle” that no one died.
“This incident brought our Islands to a standstill at the time,” Walton said in a press statement.
“It made international headlines and shook the heart of the community due to the fact that no one thought this type of violence could occur in such a brazen nature at a family friendly football match, where the community come to have fun and enjoy themselves.”
Police made four arrests in the wake of the incident, but no one was charged because of insufficient evidence.
A police spokeswoman on Monday was unable to say if the reward cash was still on offer.
Crime Stoppers and the government have been asked for clarification.
