
The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the activation of a special plan to face the rains that have affected several regions of the country. “We have been in real time, monitoring and attending immediately the alerts in the face of intense rains. We must end high -risk areas and transfer these families to decent homes,” he said.
During the program “With Maduro+”, the Head of State instructed the Sectorial Vice President of Policy, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, and the Sectorial Vice President of Public Works and Services, Jorge Márquez, to implement the Plan in a preventive way. “Although we are not yet in the rainy season, these rainfall in the west of the country are a warning. That is why we must be active.”
In turn, he stressed that recent rains in states such as Barinas, Lara, Carabobo and Trujillo have caused material losses and affected homes. In this regard, he assured that the affected families will be guaranteed a new home, in addition to reiterating the commitment to continue with the project initiated by Commander Hugo Chávez to eliminate high -risk areas and offer safe homes for Venezuelans.
He also called on the governors of the affected regions to redouble efforts in the attention to the communities. “You have to put the batteries to guarantee the dignity of our people. We have been in constant communication with local authorities, sending machinery and resources to address emergencies immediately,” he said.
The Special Plan seeks to mitigate the risks associated with rains and guarantee the safety of Venezuelan families. That is why national and regional authorities will continue with the work in a coordinated way to address any eventuality and protect the population.
