
The Gina Spence Program will host a Grief & Loss Awareness Day on March 7th at City Hall, bringing the community together to support those experiencing grief.
A spokesperson said, “The Gina Spence Program [GSP] is set to host Bermuda’s Inaugural Grief & Loss Awareness Day on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12 PM to 2 PM on the front steps of City Hall. This historic event will bring together government leaders, businesses, schools, nonprofits, and the wider community to recognize and support those who have experienced grief and loss of any kind. “Grief is a universal experience, yet many suffer in silence. Whether through the loss of a loved one, a pet, a job, or a major life change, grief impacts everyone differently. With over 40 different types of loss, this initiative seeks to break the silence, raise awareness, and ensure that those grieving have access to the support and resources they need.
“Event Highlights:
- “Official Proclamation – The Deputy Premier of Bermuda will formally declare the first Friday of March as Bermuda’s Grief & Loss Awareness Day, making this an annual observance.
- “Community-Wide Moment of Reflection – Attendees will take part in a therapeutic remembrance activity, symbolizing healing and unity.
- “Mental Health & Support Resources – Clinical vendor booths will offer free grief counseling and information on support services.
- “Live Performances & Tributes – A lineup of local artists, musicians, and speakers will honor those lost while uplifting those still healing.
- “$5 Grub Day Fundraiser – Businesses, schools, and organizations across Bermuda will participate by encouraging employees and students to wear orange and donate $5 to support grief counseling services
“This is more than an event; it’s the start of a movement – where we believe happiness and grief can co-exist,” said Dr. Gina Spence, Founder & Grief Recovery Specialist at GSP. Mrs. Mykiee Jones, Executive Director shared – “We want to ensure that grief is recognized, supported, and met with compassion. Our goal is to create a culture where healing is accessible to everyone.

- “Attend in Honor of a Loved One – Join us at City Hall and stand in solidarity with those grieving. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs for seating. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be moved inside the City Hall foyer.
- “Make a Donation – Honor the memory of someone special by supporting grief support services. Donate at www.gspcharity.com.
- “Participate in the $5 Grub Day – Wear orange and contribute to helping those in need of grief counseling.
