WILLEMSTAD – With just over two weeks remaining until the elections on Curaçao, crucial information regarding party platforms remains difficult to access. A recent review of the availability of party programs reveals that many parties have either yet to publish their plans or are offering limited access to them. While some parties share their programs via social media, many do not provide multilingual versions or full accessibility for the public.
Currently, the MFK (Movimiento Futuro Kòrsou) party has not presented its official election platform but has indicated that it will do so soon. The newcomer party Mihó Kòrsou has also yet to release its program. PNP (Partido Nashonal di Pueblo) is expected to release its program “in the short term,” but it has not been made available to the public yet. The program for KEM (Kòrsou di Esperansa Miho) is still unknown.
PAR (Partido Alternativa Real) stands out as the only party that has published its program on an updated website, offering it in both Dutch and Papiamentu, Curaçao’s official languages. Meanwhile, Movementu Kousa Promé has made its program available in Papiamentu on their website.
On social media, parties such as MAN/PIN are distributing their platforms exclusively via a QR code on Facebook, making it harder for voters to access the information directly. Similarly, Trabou pa Kòrsou shared its program through a QR code in a Facebook post, in Papiamentu.
The limited availability of these key documents has raised concerns among voters who are seeking clarity on the platforms of the various political parties as the election date approaches. Accessibility to these programs is crucial for voters to make informed decisions, and the current situation highlights a need for more transparency in the election process.
