Family and friends gathered to clear the debris one day after a devastating fire swept through and destroyed three homes at Lot 8 Bamboo Drive, Meadowbrook Gardens on Sunday evening. Some eighteen persons were displaced as a result including eight children who were unable to attend school.
Stabroek News spoke with George Reid, 62, the patriarch of the family, who explained that the families plan to rebuild soon and added that the children are without school supplies and necessities. Reid explained that they were accommodated at his daughter’s home on Sunday night. The families, Reid said, would be grateful for any assistance that will aid in rebuilding the homes and facilitate the children’s return to school as soon as possible. According to Reid, he along with the children had been saving to renovate the houses.
