
Honourable Joseph Andall, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, is leading a delegation to the 49th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), scheduled for 6–8 July 2025, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The meeting will bring together Heads of Government and high-level representatives from across the community to deliberate on several pressing regional and international issues. Among the key agenda items are matters related to climate resilience, food and nutrition security, regional telecommunications, and the ongoing situation in Haiti.
The conference is expected to consider the Revised Regional Framework (2025–2035) for Achieving Development, Resilient to Climate Change. This updated framework, developed through broad consultations with Member States and key stakeholders, seeks to strengthen regional coordination and advance collective action aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.
Heads of Government will also receive a comprehensive update on the work of the Special Ministerial Task Force on Food Production and Food Security. The discussions will focus on the progress made under the “Vision 25 by 2025” initiative and present a roadmap for its extension toward 2030, with emphasis on strengthening intra-regional trade, import replacement, and value-added production.
The ongoing humanitarian and security crisis in Haiti, will remain a central focus of the deliberations. The conference will assess the latest developments on the ground, including the work of the Transitional Presidential Council, national and international security efforts, and the broader implications for regional stability. Caricom’s continued engagement and advocacy within the international community for sustained support to Haiti, will also be discussed.
Additional agenda items will include updates on regional digital connectivity and telecommunications strategies, aimed at enhancing regional integration and competitiveness.
During the meeting, the leadership of the community will also be addressed as St Kitts and Nevis prepares to assume the Chairmanship of Caricom for the first half of 2026. Minister Andall is expected to engage in several bilateral meetings on the margins of the conference, advancing Grenada’s interests in trade, development cooperation, and regional security.
Grenada’s participation reaffirms the country’s steadfast commitment to advancing regional integration, promoting sustainable development, and supporting unified action on issues of strategic importance to the Caribbean Community.
