Rahzir Smith-Jones has been nominated for the Male Player of the Season in the Berkshire Football Awards in recognition of his superb performances for English non-league side Binfield.
The striker scored 19 goals in 51 appearances for Binfield, who play in the Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One.
One nomination for the award said: “Although Rahzir’s goalscoring form will grab the headlines for himself this season, he has also been an inspiration for those coming into the Binfield team – almost acting like a father figure for them.
“He went on a run around the January/February period scoring 13 goals in 14 games including in crucial contributions in the Berks and Bucks and Velocity Cup on their way to the Semi Final as well as being the man of difference in the league to ensure the Moles’ survival.
“The Moles have had a lot of people make their debut this year, especially from Bermuda, and Razhir has been the one to put an arm around their shoulder and help them develop and adapt to men’s football. Their performances and confidence levels have grown by having someone to look up to.”
