Karting driver Scott Barnes is determined to force his way back into the title picture when he races in the Skusa Pro Tour SpringNationals in Cincinnati this weekend.
Barnes, the Shifter Masters class defending champion, endured mixed fortunes in the WinterNationals in New Caney, Texas, in March, finishing sixth in the first round and third in the second.
“I’ve dug a hole for myself from a points perspective after a disappointing first round,” Barnes told Bernews.
“The goal is to go out there and get some wins and make up some ground in the third and fourth rounds.
“I need some wins and hopefully earn some bonus points in pole positions and fastest laps.
“I’m sitting in fourth position heading into these two rounds, although we are allowed to drop one round.”
The final two rounds, the SummerNationals, will take place at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana from July 25 to 27.
Barnes, who races for Maranello Karts USA, is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand, and All Rise Limited.
