
-Takes home $5,000 ‘Rhodni Skelton Award’ while VI’s Camroy Peters takes 1st runner up spot in 284 Excellence Film Competition
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In a red carpet premiere event, USVI Emmanuel Phillips copped the top prize of the ‘Rhodni Skelton Award’ $5,000.00 for overall best film in the BVI Tourist Board Film Commission’s 284 Excellence Film Competition 2023 held Sunday night, November 19, 2023.
In a cinematic experience at UP’s Cineplex to showcase VI films made by talented local filmmakers, $8,500 in cash was up for grabs including the top prize of $5,000.
With the film entitled ‘Three Little Wishes’, Phillips was able to take the top award ahead of Camroy D. Peters’s ‘Crack of Dawn’ which came in as the 1st runner-up taking $2,500.00 cash prize.
In 2nd position, Nadia Turnbull walked away with the $1,000.00 prize for her film “Debbie Wilmot’.
Other winning categories include Best Directing – Emmanuel Phillips’s for Three Little Wishes and Best Soundtrack – Emanuel Phillips; along with Best Editing – Crack of Dawn by Camroy Peters.

The Best Actor winning spot went to Ashawn-Taedo Phillips in the film Three Little Wishes and the Best Actress was Mayte’ah Phillips in the film Three Little Wishes.
Best Screenplay was Crack of Dawn Mr Peters which also won Best Short Documentary and the Neil Blyden Memorial Award for Best Cinematography went to Naudia Turnbull.
Event organizers described the event as a thrilling display of short films depicting storytelling, innovation, and passion for the art of filmmaking.
Phillips also won the coveted Audience Fan Favorite award for his Three Little Wishes with ‘Debbie Wilmot’ taking the Best Pick Award for Director Naudia Turnbull.
